Dr. Herwig Frei
passed away on 7 September 2020.
Dr Herwig Frei was an important part of our firm, both as a lawyer and as a person. He not only had a high level of professional expertise, he was also characterised by his exceptional humanity, his social skills and his empathy. We have lost a very special friend in him. His death is a great loss and leaves a huge gap.
Dr Herwig Frei joined our law firm in 1993 as an associate and was admitted to the partnership Greiter Pegger Kofler & Partners in 1996 after successfully passing the bar exam. His commitment and constant dedication to our clients made a significant contribution to the positive development of our firm during the 27 years in which he was a part of it.
In his own words and with his own special sense of humour, the ‘Anwaltei’ always held a ‘peculiar attraction’ for him. He was passionate about dealing with legal issues, with a particular focus and enthusiasm for labour law and public law. He was always clear, precise and reliable in his legal judgements and endeavoured to find pragmatic and economically sensible solutions for our clients. This attitude has earned him recognition, appreciation and praise on many occasions.
For the employees and partners of our firm, Herwig Frei was always the calming influence that a team of our size needs to maintain harmony and balance. We all thank him for his helpfulness and the social commitment he always showed to each and every one of us.
Our partner Herwig Frei was also particularly keen to pass on his experience and knowledge to young people. Not only did he work as a university assistant at the Leopold Franzens University in Innsbruck after completing his studies, but he also regularly gave lectures and seminars at the University of Innsbruck and at universities of applied sciences, in particular at the MCI, the Management Centre Innsbruck, while working as a lawyer. He was very popular with his students and was always committed to their interests.
We will not forget our colleague, partner and friend Herwig Frei. He will always remain a part of our team!
