Cologne Convention on Data Protection Law 2022

Constantly updated specialist knowledge is a must for successful legal advice and representation.

Our partner Georg Huber, CIPP/E (Certified International Privacy Professional / Europe), therefore welcomed the opportunity to gain new insights the Cologne Days on Data Protection Law on June 23rd and 24th, 2022. The conference, which is organised regularly by the publishing house Dr. Otto Schmidt, once again brought together first-class speakers and renowned experts, such as Stephan Winklbauer and Niko Härting, and included many interesting discussions and conversations with colleagues.

The focus this year was on data protection and data use from the perspective of supervisory authorities, courts and legislators. Among other things, current questions submitted to the ECJ in the area of data protection were dealt with, such as the scope and limits of the right to information or data processing in scoring. In this context, an overview of EU legislation was also presented, including “The Draft Data Act”, “The Data Governance Act” and “Demystifying the Artificial Intelligence Act”. In addition, news about the integration of services and applications in websites (also via cookies) was discussed during the Cologne Convention.

There was also time to enjoy the city of Cologne and its landmarks, such as the Cologne Cathedral – in perfect weather!

Our motto: Stay tuned!
