Civil Law Moot Court

On January 19, 2018, the final hearing of this year’s civil law moot court was held at the Innsbruck Appellate Court. Six teams all worked very professionally in three hearing where they played the part of the lawyer before a top jury made up of Hon.-Prof. HR Dr. Christoph Brenn, Univ.-Prof. Mag. Dr. Alexander Schopper and lawyer Dr. Christian Winder, MBL.

Lawyers Silvia Moser and Barbara Egger-Russe, assisted by associate Barbara Rainer, all of the law firm Greiter Pegger Kofler & Partners, coached the team of students Anja Sophie Bakay, Philipp Setz and Stefan Theuss.  Their topic was possible compensation for grief following a hospital mix-up of children. The file that is the basis of this moot court is actually being dealt with by the Supreme Court at present and a decision is expected in the coming two months. It will be interesting to see if the court differs from the decision reached by the moot court or if it confirms it.

We extend our warm congratulations to Anja Sophie Bakay, who recieved the award “Best Rhetorical Skills”.
