Influencers: Unlimited freedom or never-ending obligations?
Twelve students from the University of Innsbruck, two GPK legal experts and a hot topic – the perfect ingredients for a successful Breakfast@Law! Yesterday, we once again joined forces with ELSA Innsbruck to host a breakfast at our law firm – this time with a discussion about the supposedly dream job of an influencer and the fascination of a digitally shaped working model in the field of competition, labour and media law. It quickly became clear that the legal framework is complex and raises a lot of questions.
Our employment law and data protection expert, attorney Fabian Bösch, teamed up with our senior associate Vanessa Stummer to put together a truly comprehensive breakfast event offering in-depth insights and giving participants a better understanding of the challenges surrounding advertising, employment law and competition law. After all, not every cooperation agreement is a good deal, not every advertising statement is legally sound, and not every social media post is free of unpleasant consequences.
From hidden advertising and labour law issues in the creator business to the ethical aspects of publicly displaying one’s private life, practical examples clearly showed where influencers should avoid legal pitfalls.
The fact is: if you want to be successful in the digital world, you should also protect yourself legally. After all, a careless post can lead to a legal warning faster than it takes to generate a like.
Our law firm would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for the great interest, the in-depth discussions and valuable food for thought, as well as the great partnership with ELSA Innsbruck. We are already looking forward to the next law firm breakfast in an equally inspiring discussion group.
