Melanie Gassler-Tischlinger at ELSA Winter Law School on Sports Law

“Have you ever wondered why there are soccer players worth more than $200 million? Have you ever wondered how the venue for the Olympic Games is chosen? How are athletes who are guilty of doping pursued?

You will find the answers at our 5th ELSA Innsbruck Law School on Sports Law! Experience a week with a highly professional academic programme and numerous social activities such as skiing or an igloo party in an overwhelmingly beautiful city – Innsbruck, the jewel of the Alps”.

From 3 February 2019 to 10 February 2019 the “ELSA Winter Law School on Sports Law” of the European Law School Association (ELSA) took place for the fifth time in Innsbruck.

Once again, law students from all over Europe (e.g. Austria, Germany, Turkey, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Italy, Ireland, Poland, Russian Federation, Belarus, etc.) took part.

Melanie Gassler-Tischlinger, LL.M., supported the Winter Law School with a lecture on “Data Protection and Sports Law”.

Numerous practical examples were used to illustrate how our data is also collected and processed during sports and what winter sports enthusiasts should know about data protection and in particular about the basic EU data protection regulation.
