Thirteen students from the University of Innsbruck, two GPK specialists and a topical issue – that’s how we kicked off another edition of our Breakfast@Law on November 10, 2025. Together with ELSA Innsbruck, we discussed the legal pitfalls in the social media landscape: from TikTok to LinkedIn, from content creation to brand collaborations.
Our IT, IP and employment law expert, Fabian Bösch, and our trainee lawyer, Vanessa Stummer, put together a ‘menu’ of practical insights into advertising law, data protection and competition law. Because behind every reel and every post lies more than just creativity – namely contracts, labelling requirements and clear boundaries.
Whether it’s copyright in content or the correct handling of personal data: using numerous examples, it quickly became clear that social media can be as much a legal minefield as it is a stage.
