Environmental Law Moot Court – Hearing a Success

Once again this year Greiter Pegger Kofler & Partners coached a team of 7 students from the University of Innsbruck for the 6th Austrian Environmental Law Moot Court.

The students Irmgard Fitz-Posch, Anna-Carina Gstrein, Luca Hautz, Petra Lechner, Elisabeth Katharina Loncsek, Fabian Mader and Fabian Saxl were supported by our lawyers Barbara Egger-Russe and Herwig Frei as well as by our associate Laura Neururer.

This year’s legal simulation is about a ski resort expansion project (new ski slope including snow-making equipment) in the Leoganger Steinbergen. The Innsbruck team played the role of the authority (BH Zell am See).

On May 20, 2019, the subsequent negotiations with the authorities took place in Leogang with the project operators (University of Graz), with neighbours (University of Salzburg), the Salzburg State Environmental Attorney’s Office (Vienna University of Economics) and an environmental protection organisation (University of Vienna/Juridicum). The Innsbruck students proved to be sovereign negotiators, which also pleased their teacher Prof. Dr. Arno Kahl from the University of Innsbruck.

The next step for the students from Innsbruck is to issue the written decision. On 26 June 2019, the winners will be chosen at the closing event at WU Vienna.
